Mammography procedure explanation to the patient:

Ask the patients medical history to understand the risk
Ask the patient if she is pregnant or breast feeding
Tell the patient to wear comfort clothes which will be easy to remove and wear, and tell not to use deodorants before procedure
Explain the patient to undress above the waist
Tell the patient that other than technician/ doctor nobody will be allowed inside to ensure privacy
The doctor will keep the breast flattened on the machine plate to get a high quality picture and the upper plastic plate will be lowered to press the breast for 2 seconds to take a picture, and the position will be changed again to take another picture
Each time for breast compression takes few seconds and the procedure will be done in 20 minutes
Tell the patient to report if pain develops during the procedure, discomfort is quite normal after mammography due to compression
According to the organisations policy ask the patient to collect the report
