what are the jobs between the pre op team and the patient
The whole pre op team is responsible for admitting the patient being admitted and prepared them for the operation which is a long step wise procedure that the patient has to undergo while coordinating with the pre op team till the time of surgery and discharge. It is usually done to meet the qualitative requirement for the surgery and have a check whether a patient already has any medical condition that must be intervened before the main operation. It also evaluates whether whether a patient will need special care during or after the surgery. The pre op team also provide necessary information, education, psychological support and answers the relevant question of the patient nad their family members about the whole procedure and other relevant information. The team ensures proper accumulation of preoperative data and help in maintaing a optimal baseline for patient's hemodynamic condition.
Various physical assessment tests like x-rays, Electrocardiogram, urinalysis, total blood count, allergy concerns are conducted in the pre op phase. The role of the patient in the pre op phase is to timely report to the pre op teams, note down and follow on the things that the team has asked them to do, be on schedule, undergo every test, collaborate, coordinate and prepare himself for the operation 2-4 weeks prior the date of surgery. The pre-op teams prepares to assess and identify the possible co-morbidities that could possibly put the patient in a complicated situation during the administration of anaesthesia or surgery or even post operation.
