Explain the concept of immunological memory using examples.
Ans.immunological memory is the ability of the immune system to quickly and specifically recognise an antigen that the body has previously encountered and initiate a corresponding immune response .generally these are secondary, tertiary and other subsequent immune response to the same antigen.
During an immune response ,B& T cells create memory cell . These are clone of specific B & T cell that remain in the body ,holding information about each threat the body has been exposed to .. after germinal center reaction the memory plasma cell are located in the bone marrow which is main site of antibiody production within immunological memory .
eg. Mumps virus, chicken pox,flu vaccine for infection that you recover from, like measles and certain pneumonias ,will not be able to infect you again for varying lengths of time .
This is all due to memory cell ' wiping out' the invader before a second infection can take place.
