Using the Internet as a resource, find one website, YouTube clip, or blog post that examines a community resilience topic below.
TOPIC: IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON SOCIAL INTERACTION (SOCIETY) (e.g. using too much cell phone and its impact on human communication)
Explain in your own word and between (400-500 words) why this is a “resilience (protective) factor” rather than a “resource factor.” What is the adversity can be discussed/identified? Do you think the resilience factor could generalize to other adversities? Why or why not?

Social media and its impact on the society
Social media has boomed in past few years like never before. People are closely attached to it and they can not remain without these medium. As many aspects of social media is helpful but it is actually harming people’s ability to interact competently in an offline setting. As a pretty outgoing person myself, I find myself wanting to use social media as an extra outlet to interact with my friends. I definitely believe that face-to-face interaction must continue to be our main source of communication.
Technology’s rampant popularization over the past decade in terms of social media has meant that texting, Facebook, and Twitter have inevitably taken over as the most efficient ways of communicating with each other. But face-to-face interaction must remain a staple in our society because it is of a much higher quality and has the ability to satisfy so many more of our inherent social needs.
We as a society must push forward and continue to incorporate social media in more positive ways. Social networking sites have been categorized as both beneficial and consequential to offline contact. The future of social media is also highly unknown.
Less face to face interactions, Lack of nonverbal interactions, Decline in outdoor activities can be seen due to advance use of social media. Due to excess of social networking people gets detach from work and enjoy work-life balance, resulting in lower productivity levels.
It has drastically changed the amount of relationships that people have in person as well. people will not be able to properly understand what the other person is truly trying to say to the them. Not only will this lead to issues with work relationships, but it will also lead to people having issues within their own families.
People tend to forget that the English language is neglected while online. People use shorthand and shortened versions of the words themselves in order to convey a message much quicker. Although technology has created a quicker means for people to communicate, they have lost a significant portion of the efficacy of their speech, especially in person.
All of these negative impacts from social media are only worsened by the addiction caused by social media. This addiction that they are seeing, where these children are unable to remove themselves from social media has started to become a detriment to their functioning inside of social groups. This addiction can lead to eventual depression and an increase in anxiety when the user is comparing their life to those of their friends to which they are constantly being updated.
social media has several severe negative impacts on their daily lives. Despite some of its vast benefits, they as a culture have to limit their use of social media to a manageable amount. Websites such as Twitter, Facebook are very helpful to provide news, gossip, and to keep in contact with friends and family, but people cannot afford to let them become the focal point of their life.
social media can be beneficial if used properly and in the proper proportions with normal face-to-face interactions. Currently, people are not doing this. They instead, are overusing it and allowing it to negatively impact how they conduct their lives. I guess the best approach is to make yourself available through technology only when appropriate, so that it supplements our relationships rather than replacing them.
