  • Thread 1: Why do you think that women are still continued to be viewed as objects in most, if not all, media? Has this situation changed much from the past to present day? How does this pertain to the male gaze today?
  • Thread 2: By all indications, including the 2016 election, women continue to be sidelined, stereotyped and sexualized in popular media and entertainment. Girls and boys from a young age seem to have been given a certain outlook on how women should act, dress and the type of jobs that they can obtain, all through media. With this still being a major issue, what would you suggest is the best or most efficient way to have women not be sidelined--in media, politics, education, or any other aspect of life--that we can instill in all children at a young age and create a new “norm” for our youth? Can we instill a new "norm"?

Expert Solution

1) we are living in 2019 of twenty first century, most of the things are chanaged today. Today girls are working as a professional in many industries, some are layers, politicians, doctors, athletes, in media etc etc. But it can not be ignored that most of the women or girls are just taken as a object, sexual abuse, domestic violence again women are very common. In media we can say that most of the time women are taken as a object in the sense if we talk about film industry then yes for attracting audience, in news anchoring also, though it is not everywhere but still it is present in our society. Things are change today but we can find this kind of problems more in small city.

2) People are still thinking that women can't handle pressure of social work, and this thinking is only coming from uneducated background people. Not many but few parents are still differentiating between girl child and boy child, girls are not allowed to do what they desire but at the same time boys are free to do whatever they want. Girls have many rules and regulations which should be strictly followed but boys are free. Due to this many times women gets sideline by themselves thinking we can not do this or that. Therefore if we consider both child as same then this kind of problems may be avoided. Again in media many times women are taken as a audience Cathing object, and it is again demand of many people. To solve this kind of issue we need to start from our home, we must not discriminate between children, we can avoid vulgar seen from media, we can condemned voice against women.
