Ans:Patients serum look like following conditions.
a)Normal serum
Serum is the fluid part of the blood doesn't contains clotting factors,it contains protein that doesn't help in coagulation.it does not contains,blood cells (RBC,WBC),and platelets.it is called blood plasma without fibrinogens.Normal serum seems in straw -color.
b)Hemolyzed serum
Hemoglobin pigment is released on the blood by the rupture of red blood cells(erythrocytes). Hemolyzed serum seems in pink -orange to red-orange to cherry red.Hemolysis occurs with in the patients vein or outside the vein or due to mishandling of the specimen during sample collection.
c)Icteric serum
Icteric serum can be called as Icteric or hyperbilirubenemia (increased bilirubin levels).As per the levels of bilirubin color changes will happen.color changes can be vary from light gold to amber to dark gold to brownish.its a warning for jaundice or liver problem.
d)Lipemic serum(lipemia)
Increased Accumulation of fats, cholesterol,or triglycerides in the blood stream ,serum appears lipemic.due to the presence of excess fat accumulation color ranges from thick and cloudy or milky and turbid.it enhances the rupture of erythrocytes.
