Body releases anti diuretic hormone when the water concentration is low in the body. This hormone plays an important role in the reabsorption of water from the kidney. Kidenys are made up of nephrons. Nephrons havae various parts including glomerulus, proximal convoluted tube, loop of henly, distal convoluted tubes and collecting duct. Filtrate enters the glomerulus through afferent arteriole, this filtrate is collected in the collecting duct. Lot of substances like sodium ,potassium , urea, water ect move out of the nephrons at different places. The filtrate finally reaches collecting duct.
Since the environment around collecting duct is salty due to the outside movement of ions water do go out through tiny pores in the membrane. ADH creates more pores on the collecting duct membrane leading to more water to go out of the duct, thus reabsorbing the water. When water content is high ADH is not produced there for the water is not reabsorbed and is eliminated as urine.
As a result of the reabsorption of water due to low water content in the body if we drink little water , the urine become more and more concentrated with solutes.
