In terms of decision-making sequences, how would you explain and describe: (a) the 25-year-old, healthy worker who sees the same physician for minor medical needs; (b) the retired individual who calls the state medical society and seeks a second opinion prior to open-heart surgery; and (c) the consumer who searches WebMD to diagnose their condition and then goes to the local pharmacy and speaks to the pharmacist about a possible over-the-counter remedy based on their self-diagnosis.
A good decision is one that is deliberately and thoughtfully made, considers and include all relevant factors. It is a act of choosing between two different thing. That is right or wrong
a) the 25 year old healthy worker who sees the same physician for minor medical needs.
It is a good decision. Because the 25 year old health worker is very young and also have minor medical needs. So the big reference is not needed. The consistent physician can know their medical history. So it is sufficient.
b)the retired individual who calls the state medical society and seeks a second opinion prior to open heart surgery.
Right decision. Open heart sugery is a major surgical procedure. So it creates anxiety among patients. It also complicates the cardiac process. So a second opinion is a good thing to improve the self confidence. It also helps to clarify the doubts of the patient.
c) The consumer who searches web med to diagnose their condition and then goes to the local pharmacy and speaks to the pharmacist about a possible over the counter remedy based on their self diagnosis.
Wrong decision. The self decision is a very wrong thing. It always creates mistakes and there by the anxiety and fear increases. Diagnose the disease only with the help of physician. The doctors will identify the signs and symptoms and they perform appropriate investigations. The webmed is telling about only the general things. The disease is identified only through investigations and the treatment is done by qulaified medical practitioners. The pharmacist also not a appropriate person to diagnose and treat the disease. They have no right for that. The self diagnosis and self treatment will results in development of complications.
Making decision is a strong foundation of personal values that are influenced by the family, friends, relatives, peers, personal experiences and now a days social medias.
