One of the properties of gallium is also a property of water. What is this property and what precautions must be taken because of it?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Yes the gallium shares one property with water , i.e. it expands on freezing.

So when the gallium is stored , it must be taken care that it must not be stored in metal or glass containers , as the containers may rupture , if the gallium freezes.

It expands as much as 3.1% on solidifying.
