You have just been hired by the Transnational Electronics (TE) Corporation, an international retail electronics company, as their Human Resources Director. They have revenues in excess of 1 billion US dollars per year. Your Boss has given you instructions to hire a Training and Development Specialist for the Mexico City, Mexico regional office. Please define the purpose of the HR Training and Development specialist and why does this job exist? Where does it fit into the HR function and how does it relate to the corporate structure? What are the differences between this position in the U.S. and one in Mexico City?
The HR Training and Development specialist play a crucial role in the success of the business. They help to build the skills and talents that the employees require to perform the business tasks. In order to do this, these HR training and development specialists identify the needs of the organization, assess the current skill set of the employees and then compare the needs with that of the current skill set to identify the gap in the skills. Then they conduct training programs to address these gaps. Thus, this job exist to develop the workforce to achieve the organizational objectives.
The HR Training and Development specialist fit in the HRM function of Training and Development. This function plays a major role in helping the organization enhance the talents and skills of the employees to achieve the organizational goals. This also includes helping the employees move up the career ladder.
This position plays a critical role in the Mexico city than the U.S because the labor force in Mexico are that they are low-compensation workers because of their lower skills in comparison to the US labor force. The hourly wages comparison between the US labor force and the Mexican labor force leads to the fact that Mexican workers get 40% lesser than the US laborers. Since the labor force is low skilled employees, the HR Training and Development specialists need to work hard in order to make the employees acquire the skills required to achieve the organizational goals.
