Describe an instance of miscommunication between you and another person. Discuss what caused the problem, and how the interchange could have been handled better.

  • Miscommunication happen between two persons when the sender fail to communicate the message clearly to the receiver.
  • Some causes for miscommunication are: Language difference, Poor listening skills and misunderstanding.
  • One instance of miscommunication happened in an email exchange with a customer regarding order details. After the order was processed, the customer wanted to make changes and hence emailed different people with various requests.
  • Since, there wasn't a proper understanding of what the customer required, so the order went out without all of the changes. When the order was delivered, the customer was disappointed.
  • I checked and sent her a new order without any charge. Also, I informed her about the proper process for a last minute order change.
  • I, also made a uniform way to change orders for all customers to avoid miscommunication in the future. It was a streamlined process and had less chances for mistakes.
