What is the bacteria?
A 37-year-old male patient is admitted to the burn unit. After a week of treatment several areas begin to use that have increased pain redness and swelling. The attending physician orders a routine culture and sensitivity test. The appropriate transport media is used for specimen collection and for inoculation of prescribed media.

Citrate +
MAC agar a green pigment begins to develop and the plate has a distinct odor
The bacteria is Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The given bacteria is oxidase and citrate positive. H2S negative and doesn't ferment lactose or glucose. Also forms green pigment and distinct odour on MAC agar. All these point to the above bacteria. It doesn't ferment glucose but oxidise it.
This is also the most common infection to a patient admitted in burns ward.
