1. Your best friend, Carol’s daughter, Maria, is in search of new job and applies to your HR Department for a position as a customer service representative. Maria has no BGCSEs, but falsely represents that she has five (5) including English and Math. You are responsible for recruitment and turn a blind eye to the ‘addition’ to her resume and hire her. She is an incompetent and disruptive employee and her supervisor asks to see her personnel file. You refuse the request citing privacy and policy restrictions. Maria’s supervisor reports you to the Vice President of Human Resources. what are the business ethic problems?

Expert Solution

There are business ethical problems here they are

Fundamental ethical issues: People not doing their work with trust and integrity. In this case also same happened as I just turned a blind eye as she is my best friends daughter and recruited her without proper verification. Now she is proved to be a incompetent employee for our organization which all happened because of my blind eye on her. I shouldnt have done that mistake and now I am just trying to cover up the issue when Maria supervisor requested to see her personal file. Now all this made me to cheat my own organization which is making me to understand that if some know my mistake they will think I have cheated the organization which lead to people in organization to loose trust on me.

Decision making issues: I just took a wrong decision by turning a blind eye on Maria as she is my best friends daughter which lead me to now understand that I took a bad decision which is not ethical in any way as I just favoured because of my relationship with her.
