A client is receiving an Epinephrine infusion at 1.5mcg/min. The Epinephrine drip that is available is 1mg in 250 ml D5W. How many ml/hr should the nurse set on the pump? (round the answer to the tenth)

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ordered dose= 1.5mcg/min

= 0.09mg/hr

Available dose= 1 mg per 250 ml

Available volume= 250ml

Flow rate=( ordered per hour/available dose)×volume

=( 0.09mg/hr/1mg)× 250ml

= 22.5ml/hr.

Nurse should set the pump at 22.5ml/hr
