Solutions

Expert Solution

1).

The actual balanced chemical reaction of photosynthesis is as:

6CO2 +   12H2O   C6H12O6    + 6H2O  + 6O2

It clearly shows that oxygen released during photosynthesis is the one linked to hydrogen in water but not the one linked to carbon in carbon dioxide.

The oxygen linked to hyrdogen in water released from photosynthesis comes from carbon dioxide.

The net reaction is as

6CO2 + 6H2O C6H12O6  + 6H2O

2).

The four steps steps in the light reaction of photosynthesis are as:

A) Absorption of light by Photosystem II and Photosystem I.

B). Photolysis of water into protons and oxygen, whereas the two electrons are taken by the Photosystem II first then they reach to Photosystem I.

C). Transport of Electrons through ETC or ETS in chloroplast and.

D). Generation of Proton Motive Force (PMF) across thylokoid membrane.

3).

The three products of light reaction of photosynthesis are as:

a) Oxygen : It is released into the atmosphere.

b). ATP produced by ATP Synthase through Photophosphorylation. The ATP produced is used during dark reaction of Carbon assimilation cycle.

c) NADPH is produced prom NADP+ by its reduction with the electrons front water. It is used for reduction of Carbon dioxide in Dark reaction.
