(1) Identify and explain in some detail the causes for
congressional gridlock and any solutions you come across in doing
your research.
(2) Provide at least two examples of how gridlock in recent years
has prevented the passage of specific pieces of
legislation intended to address one or more of our
nation’s most pressing problems. These problems include
infrastructure, tax reform, immigration, healthcare, entitlement
reform, gun violence, income stagnation, global climate change,
budget deficits, the national debt and a strong national defense
and other major issues upon which the two political party have
differing positions and seem unable to reach a legislative
compromise that become law.
1. There is a national problem all over the United States what we call Congressional Gridlock. One does not fail to mention Congressional Gridlock and its harms to our nation.
Congressional gridlock is a term that can be expressed as when the passing of legal laws are difficult for government officials. Gridlock occurs mostly over and over again when the government is divided, which means the legislative division and the executive division are not united under the same party. Take an example if the legislature is controlled by one party and they pass a bill, the president which is if belongs to another party can choose to veto the bill. With the outcome two thirds of the house is needed to pass a bill from both parties and there actually our problem lies in voting.
The bicameral legislator is also a badly behaved in the Federal Government, as it comprises of two chambers, the Senate and the House of representatives. Take an instance where a House of Representatives might pass a law however the Senate may possibly interfere while stopping the law from being enacted, which we call “Filibuster”.
Intensely Republicans and Democrats have their differences in most of the issues which has caused them to become more and more divided every year which has led to no compromised decisions.
America can fix this congressional gridlock by taking many steps like, by having a unified economy and the negotiation of congress while closing all tax loop holes and if opposition between Democrats and Republicans are bargained for the reason that in the end both parties are the big losers. We also need to fix the judicial selection procedure where the Presidents attempt to place political candidates on the bench.
