[____________________________] regulation (control) determines how the primary RNA transcript is spliced or otherwise processed
The answer is RNA processing control
RNA processing control determines how the primary RNA transcript is spliced or otherwise processed.
During gene expression, RNA is synthesized from DNA strand through transcription and then proteins are synthesized from RNA through translation. Gene expression can be controlled by a cell through transcriptional control, RNA processing control, RNA transport control, Translational control, mRNA degradation control, and protein activity control.
During transcription, RNA is synthesized from the DNA strand with the help of RNA polymerase. This RNA is called a primary transcript. After transcription, RNA processing occurs. Pre-mRNA is processed before it is transported to the nucleus. In RNA processing, pre- mRNA (primary transcript) is processed to become mature mRNA. RNA processing includes RNA capping, RNA splicing, and addition of poly-A tail. In RNA splicing, introns are removed from pre-mRNA and exons are joined together to form mature mRNA molecules.
