Analyzing Reviews

Below are several reviews from Amazon and Target for a Dyson or Hoover vacuum. Select which source you would like to focus on first -- Amazon (Dyson) or Target (Hoover). Next, evaluate how well the reviewer of the product presents their argument: Is there anything missing from the review? Is something included in the review that was particularly helpful or not? What would you suggest they add or remove to their review in order to make it relatable or useful? Would you purchase the item based on the review(s)? Your response should be a brief paragraph where you select one or more of the questions above about one or more of the reviews for the source you selected.

Target Review 1:

Best Vacuum, EVER

5 out of 5 stars

We initially purchased this Hoover roughly 9 years ago. We figured if we spent a little it would last a while and this one really did! Ours died on us today and in doing our research, we decided to stick to what we know and buy the same exact one again. Hoping that this one lasts just as long as our last one!

Hoover Wind Tunnel Air

5 out of 5 stars

I bought this about a month ago. It is the best vacuum ever! It is easy to use and it has a great suction. The attachments are easy to get to and attach on the vacuum so you have them when needed. All the features are so well thought of. I wanted a vacuum I could carry downstairs that was not heavy, and this is the perfect weight. It is not loud and works great on bare floors as well as the carpet.

Brush doesn't turn!

1 out of 5 stars

I've had this less than 30 minutes and the brush doesn't turn. I've pressed the button, cleaned the brush, and everything that the manual said to try and it still won't turn. It's brand new!

Target Review 4:

Deep cleans very well

4 out of 5 stars

I recently purchased this vacuum within the last month. I have always used a bagged vacuum and was skeptical of going bagless due to allergies. This vacuum deep cleans very well. I also have two long-haired dogs and I’m surprised by how much hair this vacuum picks up. The vacuum is sleek, light-weight and not that loud. I’m still getting used to the steerable feature.

I researched and researched before deciding on this Hoover. I'm a tried and true Bissell girl but Bissell didn't have anything along this line in this price range that didn't suit my needs. (Don't worry, I'm not talking behind their back, I told them so.) This little baby will stay charged for me to hit the highlights every other day or so for a week in a 2000 sq ft house that's mostly hard wood. The canister is easy to dump and I don't have to touch any of the gross stuff. I wanted a solution to have a quick option for hair and crumbs from two adults without having to get out a broom and dustpan or big vac every other day. The bottom was thought through, It can go alongside/under cabinets and furniture and pivots without a problem. I love being able to switch to brush or no brush quickly. I don't even pick up the throw rugs when using it. I haven't really timed a full charge once the battery dies but I just leave it overnight regardless. I'm satisfied. And for the price I don't think it can be beat.

A friend of mine got it and I helped vacuum with it, that's how I got to know about it. When I needed to replace an old vacuum and was looking for the cheapest, I stumbled across this one ant thought "why not?" I loved using my friend's. It's so sleek and modern looking, that I honestly just let it hang next to my bookcase. You feel no shame having this out like you would with older models, no need to hide it away in a closet or behind curtains, drapes and coats. It vacuums amazingly and glides like a dream. It comes in a box smaller than its full length and that’s because you need to assemble it. But wait! Before you get put off by that, it took me 30 seconds (or less) to put it together! The parts click into place and it only has one screw which I just twisted in with a knife.

In terms of effectiveness, it picks stuff up pretty well. I love how much of a deep clean I get using it. The dirt tank is a bit on the small side but the vaccum is a much sleeker and smaller model than most afterall. With that being said, it still seems to hold quite a bit of dirt. Biggest disclaimer here is that I live in an apartment so floor surface area that needs to be vacuumed anyway is not that much.

Con: biggest one I can think of is that because of the sleekness of the model, there is no hose. No hose = no getting into the edges of things or close enough to the baseboards to get those pesky crumbs. I just drive the vacuum a little bit more into the space and it picks up a decent amount of that residue.

Second (potential) con is needing to charge it before the first use. If you’re like me and like anything you order, you’re super excited to use, it’ll be a downer having to wait three whole hours before you get to use your new vacuum. If you’re in a rush, you could probably get up to 5 minutes of vacuum time out of it before it definitely needs to charge. Use your time wisely...

Another con is it’s lack of (or limited amount of) swivel and (relative) inability to get under tight spaces. Although so far I’ve found a way to maneuver it this way or that to get it into whatever spot I need to pick up dirt.

Overall, great vacuum. Love it, love it, love it. Would recommend it.

Purchased this after reading reviews online. Hoover has a good reputation, and I thought it was a great purchase.

Disappointed with the suction. Works well on hardwoods and thin rugs, but on a thick carpet it would not even pick up a feather.

Enjoyed the cordless convenience, and the duration of the battery was approx 15 mins.

Review of the product based on the niche segment of customers who require specialized features and effectiveness in the sense of the ability of the vacuum to work even on thick carpet. True battery life but negative review about the suction could actually deviate the customer. But from the firm’s point of view, such a review can let them improve the product and look for customer feedbacks and work on testing if it is really the case and come up with a good action plan.
