Major barriers against successfully working to solve the issues of the Ebola outbreak in the community of Sierra Leone were as follows -
i. A big shortage of health care workers including doctors, nurses, nursing managers and ambulance drivers as compared to the rising number of cases each day.
ii. Majority of people's unwillingness to accept that they are infected and hence creating a major problem in their society itself.
iii. Insufficiency of essential medicines and number of well maintained ambulances for transportation including unadequate fuel.
iv. Reluctance from major institutions and government bodies to enhance the quantity and coordination of the gobal response and to meet its heavy logistical requirements.
v. A major limitation in the supplies of basic needs like number of beds per patient as well as other critical material support like PPE kit and infection control devices.
vi. Since there was a big chances of doctors and nurses getting infected due to the outbreaks, a lot of international bodies were hesitating to offer help by sending their man to such a dangerous and infected environment.
vii. Disinclination from the communities to engage and cooperate with the healthcare team and hence failing the overall necessary technical intervention.
viii. No proper healthcare system in Sierra Leone with the adequate potential to do disease surveillance, early detection and provide quick response and quality treatment.
ix. Scarcity of basic and primary health care system with essential capacities to intervene health emergencies or an outbreak.
x. Major social, economic, and security crisis in the communities of Sierra Leone
