Discuss the Ebola outbreak that occurred in West Africa in 2014.
In the history 2014 west africa ebola virus disease is a larger,
severe, complex ebola peidemic. In that more than 28,000 people
infected and 11,000 people died. there is no effective warning
system made that disease widspwrad in the entire region. due to
poor available resources and failure to disjointed, it increases
the outbreak. guinea, sierra leons, and Liberia affected more.
march 2016, sierra leone declared as ebola free
region. WHO documented total of 14,124 cases with
3955deaths in sierra leone that is the highest epidemic than any
other country.
Media coverage increased the awareness and concern when there was a
rumour about ebola story that make beliefs by people to prevent
Ebola infection that was reported in the newspaper in 2014. due to
rumors many people diest and hospitalized. the intervention by the
government and media helped in stopping such false rumors about
ebola. media role in ebola reportage increases awareness and
stopped spread populace.
In West African media plays an important role in information
dissemination that occurs at epidemic proportions. it spread
awareness among the public. but still, the media needs to continue
and investigate the reportage of disease outbreak that helps the
general public to avoid disease and health issues.
