Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer: According to condition given in above statement, IT Manager will under such circumstances face ethical dilemma, the ethical issue involved in this is the CONFLICT OF INTEREST, EMPLOYEE FAVOURITISM, PERSONAL VS PROFESSIONAL LIFE BALANCE and to the some extent LEADERSHIP ISSUE.

As in given conditions, CV for cousin which pleases him/her because he/she knows she(cousin) has a lot of experience in IT, means the employee is fairly suitable for the position but because she is manager's relative ,someone can question her appointment.Hence Conflict of interest is involved in this,on the other hand how effectively Manager will solve the situation,is the issue of EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP.

What should manager do?

1.He should refrain himself or herself from the process of appointment of Cosin by referring the matter to his/her senior authority, and that senior officers should consider that CV.

By doing this conflict of interest can be resold.

2.Another path is he should appoint the most eligible candidate whether she is his/her relative, and same appointment is to be approved by higher authority through a internal assesment exam.

3.Another way is He/She should effectively convey to all the candidates the reason for their rejection and another's selection .By this he/she can present example of efficient Leadership skill.

Hope it helps!
