b) Describe the use of picocells in mobile communication and discuss its benefits. [3 Marks]
c) Discuss how 5G communications can achieve higher throughput than 4G.
The major difference between the cold handoffs and warm handoffs in mobile communication is that in cold hadoffs when flipping from one cell to another, there is an actual split in the relation. Before forming a link with the next cell, the radio connection from the mobile station to the current cell are broken. It is an inter-frequency handoff in general. It is a policy of "break before make" and in soft handoffs When radio links are inserted and deleted from a mobile station, at least one of the connections is maintained. This means that no split happens during the handoff. In co-located locations, this is commonly followed. "It is a policy of" make before break.
a.)Picocells are usually used in wireless networks to expand coverage to indoor areas where outside signals do not penetrate far, or in areas of very dense telecommunications traffic, such as rail stations or arenas, to add network power. And they offer the benefits like the they improve the data throughput and increase capacity of the mibile network and it is easily available for all kind of networks.
b.)5 G has many advantages over 4 G because of the latest technology, bandwidth and channels it uses; faster speeds, reduced delay, ability for a greater range of mobile devices, reduced congestion and improved performance., 5G networks make use of high wavelength frequencies which can carry much more data than the 4G spectrum frequency.
