"Software and System Updates" Please respond to the following:

Select a software system and / or a device that you are familiar with that either allows or requires the system’s software to be updated. This system could be specific software that sets on top of an operating system, the operating system itself, a mobile device, or video game consoles. Discuss how the update was applied to the system and describe the changes that the system / software update provided. In addition, give your opinion on whether or not you believe the system updates are used as a marketing tool.

Use the system you selected in Part 1 of this discussion, speculate the constraints that they may have experienced during the system update process. Provide an alternative solution to deliver updates in a way that overcomes the constraints.

Software and System Updates are very important to a computer system, an OS and a software, as they ensure smoother performance of the system, better security from threats and close loopholes also modernize the performance and look and feel of the system and the operation of the system. Thus Software and System Updates have many advantages.

We all are familiar with one software that we have installed in all our computers which is an Antivirus software which detects viruses and makes our computer safer from external attacks and protects our computer from being attacked while connected to the internet and thus protect us. An antivirus software or an antimalware software has to be installed on the existing operating system. After being installed the antimalware/antivirus software gets the updates periodically over the internet from the servers. The antimalware/antivirus software gets the update list from the internet, download the updates and install the updates on the system. Once the updates are applied to the system, the system is better protected from the online risks and threats. Antivirus and security software installed on the computers systems and other likely devices should be updated regularly at regular intervals where these are necessary for smoother operations and also protecting an user from the online risks on the Internet. Thus, these are not used as a marketing tool and system updates are actually required in this case.

There are several constraints that may have been experienced during the system update process such as:

a) Not able to connect to the internet to check for or downloading updates

b) Partial files downloaded

c) PCs with no internet connection will not be protected

The above are the primary constraints while downloading and installing updates. When we are not able to connect to the internet to check for updates, then the updates can be transferred to the PC without the internet connection and be installed physically. Partial updates should be saved on the system or be installed as they are downloaded. On resuming the internet connection, we can resume the download and installation of the updates.
