So, bottom line is that mental health issues like excessive anxiety and depression are no joke – either at a personal level or at the macro level of the US healthcare system.

But while millions of people suffer from mental health issues, it is also noted above that millions of suffering people are left undiagnosed and untreated.

So what should we do? How can we significantly improve our ability to help people in need of mental health treatment?

What should we do about the stigma that some attach to seeing a mental health professional?

What about the equal stigma of being labeled as someone who is “mental?”

How do we, as healthcare professionals, best reach out to those that desperately need assistance –without making anyone think we are looking for “crazy” people?

Overall – what is the best way to address the large and underserved need for mental health care?

As the definition of health says its the state of physical mental social and emotional disease and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity

A person who is physically fit and external appearance looking healthy can be suffering from mental illness which is usually found or diagnosed only when severe symptoms appear or severe events like delebrate self harm occurs.

Though the world is modernised and fast moving and it claims to be acceptable to all the hidden truth is that mentally ill patients are being stigmatised in the society

Cultural stigmas and lack of proper understanding of the disease are 2 main barriers faced by underprivelged communities

In countries like US they main reason why health care services are not available for large or underprivelged comunities could be communities could be because of lack of insurance coverage .which makes the treatment expenses unbearable for the underprivelged

Openess towards mental health team and the doubt of confidentiality is another main reason that pulls back people from seeking help.

Mental health hospitals or clinics have to take steps along with governments support to help individuals in need ,

Free counsellings at school or college levels itself would be helpful to address teenage issues like anorexia, bulimia, depression ,anxiety

Teams of health care professionals should be accessable for office workers to help them manage stress they can also be provided with sessions and educational programmes

Free online or telephonic session by clinics or health teams would be a better option for individuals as it would be confidential and they would be saved from the shame of walking out of a mental health clinic

Most of all is to remove the stigma from the society and encourage people to speak about depression and anxiety

One such example is when the Indian actress Deepika Padukone had spoke about her depression and how she overcame the condition and now volunteers to help youngers with depression through her trust

Having insurance coverage would be a great step in the health system for mental health
