Discuss considerations and strategies to manage conflicts. Discuss win-win conflict responses. Elaborate why these responses are considered “win-win” for both parties.

Solutions

Expert Solution

The following are the considerations and strategies to manage conflicts:

1. Avoiding: The key element to manage any conflict is to avoid it in the first place. by avoiding we can ignore or keep distance and monitor if conflict resolves in the mean mean time with minimal to no intervention.

2. Compromising: In this strategy we reach a middle ground to a solution which is acceptable to both and none of the parties get entirely satisfied or gain any upper hand from the conflict.

3. Collaborating: When the two parties cannot win by fighting each other thay can collaborate together in acceptable terms and each can gain and satisfy themselves hence resolving the conflit.

4. Accomodating: It involves taking into account the other party's concerns and adusting oneself to let the other benefit if the conflict resolves. This helps one party to gain and other party to accomodate/ give-in in order to resolve conflict.

5. Competing: In this method the two parties compete against each other to gain their own. In this method both the paties can gain and if handled priperly competition can act as positive motivation.

A win-win situation is where both the diagareeing parties agree to solve a conflct by mutual agreement, cooperation, resolution in order to get a win or desired outcome. Below are the examples of win-win conflict responses:

1. Two nurses are assigned to two duties say bathing/cleaning patient and medication allotment respectively. Each nurse is unhappy and wants to do the other thing and there is conflict due to duty allocation. A win-win response here would be to exchange the duties alloted and carry out the same without any complains. By this we ensure that both nurses got what they wanted and the conflict was resolved.

2. If the head nurse assigns a diffcult/ unfamilair task to a new employee nurse due to unavailability of staff that shift and the assigned nurse is unhappy. here the win-win response can the head nurse can offer to teach the duty nurse in this way she gets to learn the unfamiliar duty and the head nurse gets the job one once the new nurse earns and performs here duties. So in this situation both parties were happy was both won in the conflict in their won way.
