Write a clear and comprehensive report on what would br involved in the adoption of a life cycle approach to adopting a new accounting information system. specifically indentify the stages that would need to be engage in and staff likely to be involved. Alex your bods also wishes to know whether condultant costs woluld be incurred?
The steps involved in developing an information system are:
1) analysis fesibilty study system, design testing implementation documentation.
2) This is a very important part in developing of an information system and finding out how information is being handled at the moment.
3) if there is no computer system then the first task will be to look at the existing manual systems like questionnaires to existing user for observing how people use the system etc. The analysis phase often includes a feasibility study. At the end of this phase a decision needs to be made as to what software to use.
4) the feasibility study might identify the general requirements for the system, to be simple and easy to use, to store all relevant details of the members to produce membership list posters, flyers and similar materials for the advertisement purpose.
5) the areas that need to be considered in the design process are output, input, file design, hardware and software.
6) some of the output for a system might be details of the members like names and addresses, phone numbers etc
7) to workout the inputs required for the system several questions need to addressed. What data needs to be entered in the system? How much data needs to be input, and how often? Where does the data come from? How will the data entered in the system? How many files are needed and what will their structure be.
8) decide the type of computers and printers suitable for the system.
9) to decide what software should be used. The most common software packages are data bases, spread sheets and word processing packages.
10) A test plan should be designed before testing commences.
11) Impending or introducing a new system can be done in two ways: direct implementation and parallel running.
12)A number of documents are produced during the development of new computer application like user guides and technical documentation
