1. Does alcohol fermentation occur in humans? If not, what forms of fermentation do occur in humans, if any?
2. Which type of cells in the body do you think require the most energy during vigorous exercise? Why is this?
3. What is the relationship between the amount of exercise we do and the amount of glucose our cells use?
1).
Alcohol fermentation doesn’t occur in humans. Lactic acid fermentation occurs in humans.
2).
Muscle cells in the body require the most energy during vigorous exercise. Because when we exercise, our muscles move more vigorously. Their metabolic rate increases. They need more energy, so they produce more of the chemical energy molecule ATP
3). Respiratory rate of a person will be increased during execises. When we exercise, we need more energy, which comes from glucose oxidation. Glucose is completely oxidized in the presence of oxygen as cellular respiration. So for every molecule of glucose, one molecule of oxygen is required to produce more number of ATP energy to do exercise.
