Is there a distinct difference between projects and events, when referring to the field of project management, and in what ways do they differ and overlap?
A project is defined by its Temporary endeavor, it has a further definite start and End, again an Event is also regarded as Project because an Event is considered a temporary endeavor and has a specific start and end time, let's say example Celebration party which is having specific start and stop timing, but the reverse is not true, that means all project can’t be Event, again Managing project and Managing just an Event may have different Tools, Method and the way of working for the people, Event consider management of logistics, which associated with preparing and hosting an event, whereas Project is all about Integration Management, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Resource, Stakeholders and Others constraint Management,
So it is clear that the similarities between events and projects are both need resources to manage, both can have some level of repetitiveness but must have specific start and end dates, for event we need someone like event manager to manage and for any kind of project include Event also, project manager do commit for taking authority over project resources, Project Management in its concept is very bigger discipline and this Project management Tools, Technique, Standard, Methodology Input and Output can be applied in any Industries
For an Example, that a construction project may use the software tools to manage day to day Project activities, but such tools used here could be different completely when we do Event Management with Software tools,
In addition to above consideration, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between Project and Event, every event is project but every project is not an Event,
