Disorders of the endocrine system affect many individuals. Providing multidimensional patient care can be challenging for patients experiencing these disorders. Ensuring the plan of care meets the patient and family needs is important in order to increase adherence to proper medical treatment following discharge.
What does it mean to provide a multidimensional approach? Provide at least three examples of how the care team can meet the patient and the family’s needs? List at least three care team members and how are they involved in providing multidimensional care?
Endocrine disoredres are the chronic diseases they may be sometimes cannot be curable. The most common endocrine disorder include diabetes, thyroid disorders etc. All those are due to the change in hormonal level in the body.
All of those endocrine disorders need multidimentional care to patient and their family. A whole care of healthcare team members and family support is necessary. Most of the endocrine disoreders are herditary so cooperation of family members is very much important, this is why a multidimentional care is important to the patient.
The care team can meet the patient's and family needs by proper identification and history collection of patient. Endocrine disorders and mainly herditay disoredrs so family hsitory had an important role in proper assessment of patient.
Health education. Appropriate health education regarding the management and prevention and also the characterstics of disease is important . And also lifestyle changes such as modification in diet and exercise can made a greater impact in patient and family health.
As above said a multidimentional care is needed to the patient so participation of all healthcare team members are very important in this care.
Nutritionist: They are responsible for planning a balanced diet to the patient. Endocrine disorders needs dietary modification. This is also a type of prevention and management of the disorder. For family members a balanced diet is important to prevent those conditions.
Nurse: In case of diabetes, patient may need to take insulin. The nurses are responsible to teach the patient about the procedure of insulin administration and also the nurses are responsible for providing health education to the patient about the care and complications of disease.
Lab technichine: Lab reports had an important role in endocrine disorders. Any progress or changes in the condition can be examined by lab reports. An adequate knowledgable lab technichine is necessary to examine the specimens.
