How does healthy living meshes with diffusion of innovation theory?
Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) Theory, developed by E.M. Rogers in 1962, is one of the oldest social science theories. It originated in communication to explain how, over time, an idea or product gains momentum and diffuses (or spreads) through a specific population or social system. The four main elements in the diffusion of new ideas are: (1) innovation, (2) communication channels, (3) time, and (4) the social system.
In public health, Diffusion of Innovation Theory is used to accelerate the adoption of important public health programs that typically aim to change the behavior of a social system.
Using diffusion theory is an add on marks in healthcare .It helps for the easy flow of the new healthcare innovations which helps to improve the health of the general population by spreading the awareness among the population by using the four key components . General public is aware of the health care promotion ,prevention and restoration methods with the help of diffusion theory and uses these methods in their daily life's to stay healthy and fit by modifying their behaviour .
