Firstly emotional abuse is a type of abuse which deals with a persons pyschological side. The act of emotional abuse is one which diminishes and puts down the identity and self worth of a person. The scars in emotional abuse are more mental and take longer to heal than that of physical abuse. This kind of abuse can seriously interefere with a persons all round development and can affect their personality.

Physical abuse on the other hand is a kind of abuse wherein there is harm, trauma or injury which is caused to another person through actual touch. As its name suggests physical abuse causes strain to the body as it is tangible unlike the emotional abuse. It is more visible on a person that emotional abuse.

There is a lot of misconception on wheather physical or mental abuse is worse but the truth is both are a form and abuse and causes major abuse to a person. Although people feel physical abuse is bad as it can be touched and felt and especially seen it might be argued that emotional abuse causes a life long ipression on the person even though it can never be seen. Physical abuse is more brutal to some who have experienced it and they arecompletely traumitized by it but people who have undergone emotional abuse say that it is the same kind of pain but sometimes could be even more. Emotional abuse patients undergo alot of changes in their personality so that they are able to adapt to the environment after going throught the abuse. Sometimes if a person has undergone emotional abuse during their childhood it affects them for life but in physical abuse they forget the trauma.

There are numerous ways that emotionals abuse can be inflicted on a person sometimes it can be so subtle that it can go unnoticed. Some of the prominent ways we can identify emotional abuse are:

  • emotionally blackmailing a person or holding things against them. This is usually the srtart of it all and can increase.
  • alienating a person from the entire environment. Initially in this stage it seems good and as though the person is completely in need of you but the actual truths come out later on.
  • throwing threas at the person which could actually lead to a physical abuse.
  • constantly demanding things of that person and always keeping a watch over them.
  • aggresive behaviour from the person which would include sudden fit of rage which are mostly unexplainable. This could also include name calling or belittling the person regularly.

Emotional abuse, once occurs takes alot of time and effort to treat. It requires alot of love and supporting from peers and people close to the person that has been abused. If the person has been undergoing it for a longtime it would be harder as they have become accustomed to it and the only way out is through getting help. This is a slow process but it would help in the overall improvemet in the person to build up their self worth. But all this would not be possible without the help and guidance of a good counsellor or therepist and good family and friends support.

However the ending line to this long asked question would be that both kinds of abuse has its on struggles and difficulties and only the person who has experienced it would know the actual happenings and effects of it.
