You want to determine if a certain fertilizer favors the growth of a certain plant. Design a protocol.
What is the negative control?
What is the independent variable?
What is the dependent variable?
Experiment to determine if a certain fertilizer favors the growth of a certain plant
Purpose- After conducting some background literature, we have come up with the following hypothesis: Nutrient Resources in fertilizers help the growth of a certain plant.
Materials - Ten identical plant seeds, fertilizers, constant UV light.
Method-
1) 10 seeds are divided into two groups 5 each.
2) planted the seeds in two different pots. First pot with fertilizers( independent variable) and second pot which do not contain fertilizers(negative control group)
3) At the end of the month, the height of the plantlets is measured.
Negative control- the plant will have natural soil condition
Data interpretation
A histogram is used to plot the result. The height of the plant is plotted on Y-axis and the treatment group is plotted on the x-axis. If the treatment group produces more height/growth than the control, we can then conclude that the treatment of fertilizer had an effect and the resource in question is limited to plants.
