Expert Solution

Experiment to determine if a certain fertilizer favors the growth of a certain plant

Purpose- After conducting some background literature, we have come up with the following hypothesis: Nutrient Resources in fertilizers help the growth of a certain plant.

Materials - Ten identical plant seeds, fertilizers, constant UV light.

Method-

1) 10 seeds are divided into two groups 5 each.

2) planted the seeds in two different pots. First pot with fertilizers( independent variable) and second pot which do not contain fertilizers(negative control group)

3) At the end of the month, the height of the plantlets is measured.

Negative control- the plant will have natural soil condition

Data interpretation

A histogram is used to plot the result. The height of the plant is plotted on Y-axis and the treatment group is plotted on the x-axis.  If the treatment group produces more height/growth than the control, we can then conclude that the treatment of fertilizer had an effect and the resource in question is limited to plants.

1. An investigator has developed a new fertilizer for a certain species of plant. They are interested in determining if the fertilizer has an effect on the height (inches) of the plants. They conduct an experiment where a random sample of 15 plants are given the fertilizer and 15 random plants are given water to serve as a control. QUESTION 20 You want to determine if an herbivore affects the density of a particular plant in a meadow. You locate three meadows, divide each one in half and build a fence around each half. In one half of each meadow, you exclude herbivores, and in the other half you allow them to stay. What results would you expect to observe if the herbivore had a significant effect upon the plant? There would be no difference in plant biomass in...
