Highlight 3 important results where Quantum and Classical Mechanical calculations differ? Explain qualitatively why it happens?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution:

1. Cassical mechanics involves the study of the objects in accordance with the principles of the Newtonian mechanics. The objects behave at a macro level.

In Quantum mechanics, the behavior of objects is at the micro level. They show the Wave properties as well as the particle behavior.

2) According to Classical mechanics, there are Inertial or acceleraing frames of refernce and also Non inertial or non accelerating frames of refernce.

Newton's laws cannot be etrapolated to objects as small as atoms.(micro level), in Quantum mechanics.

3) In classical mechanics, events are continuous. For example the motion of the Earth around the Sun or the behaviour of the gas molecules in kinetic theory of gases, are all predectable .

In Quantum mechanics, events do not occur in a predictable way. Two exactly identical particles , under the same conditions , may behave differently. Events occur discontnuously.

If low-income workers earned more money, their dependence on, and eligibility for, government benefits would decrease. The Center for American Progress reported in 2014 that raising the federal minimum wage by 6% to $10.10 would reduce spending on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps) by 6% or $4.6 billion.
