Circumcision is a religious ceremony in some religions, but merely a medical procedure for other persons. Circumcision of males often occurs shortly after birth but requires the consent of a parent. For this assignment, research Pennsylvania laws on circumcision and see if rules that regulate safety in circumcision procedures apply to all such procedures, or whether there are exceptions to this regulation when conducted for religious reasons. Should a child be required to consent to the procedure? Consider and analyze the ethics of these policies, both from the perspective of the religion and the perspective of the infant males. Your response should be well-crafted. More important than length is your ability to demonstrate a thoroughness of critical thought and a consideration of a variety of scenarios.
Circumcision is the process of removing foreskin. This foreskin is being removed surgically. The skin of covering of male reproductive part is being removed in the process of circumcision. This procedure is mostly prominent in Jewish and Muslim communities.
Queensland Law reform commission is related with circumcision of male infants. It says that routine circumcision of a male infant falls under the category of crime.
AmeriHealth Caritas of Pennsylvania considers the circumcision legal in following cases:-
1. If infant is male.
2. If infant male have no anatomical or any health problem.
3. Infants must be in four weeks of birth.
I think a child or his/her parents; must be considered before applying such procedure. Lets see this phenomenon with the perspectives of morality. It is our body. We have fundamental right to protect it. Its our life and none should be allowed to make changes into it without any consent.
If non consent is being involved then it means that it is illegal. It is against the fundamental rights. Consent taking must be made mandatory.
If it is being performed then its consequences must be explained. It should not be done in a state of unconsciousness. Parents must be informed before carrying out this procedure. It is a painful experience. It may involve generation of infections.
It may cause excessive bleeding also. It also affects sex life because this procedure decreases the sensitivity of affected parts. Proper medical consultation and a sterilised methodology must be adopted before committing any such action.
