Answer the situations below USING PHYSICS EXPLANATIONS

1. If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
2. If my Grandfather clock is running slow, how do I fix it? Explain.
3. Why do different people get different results if they touched a bare wire from an electrical outlet?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1. If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it then also it will make sound. Because this incident is independent of observer. As vibration is the source of any sound so if there is any kind of vibration there will be sound it doesn't matter is there any observer present or not.

2. Generally the grandfather clock runs by using a spring energy. Provide some potential energy e to the spring and the spring releases its energy and give power to the clock to run properly and provide proper time. Sometime it happens that the spring losses its potential energy and then the power reduces so we cannot see the proper time and it's become slow. By using a proper key we can mechanically increase the potential energy of that spring inside that clock to fix this problem.

3. Human body is made of fluid. So it is a good conductor of current electricity. But by nature someone's body is more resistive than others. Its differ by the nature of the skin type of that people, it may be full of moisture or may not be. In blood that presents many kinds of electrolytes which can conduct current. Some people have different proportion of electrolytes in the blood, which affects the conducting of current.
