"Each individual holds some power in hand in our modern democratic society. And other than the members of the government there are some individuals and authorities who enjoys the power. the list includes the richest people, courts, police officers and financial institutions. the government employees always collaborates with richest people as they contributes some of their worth in hard times to help the government. for example: as the corona virus pandemic has reached nearly every corner of the world, some of the tech tycoons, like Bill Gates, are donating millions of dollars to aid vaccine and disease research. secondly, the officers has rights to investigate or arrest. they are here to guard each individuals security. nothing matters whether you are the president or prime minister. if you did something wrong in terms of corruption, black money, murder so on. they have rights to punish you. thirdly, courts are the institutions with the authority to judge the disputes between parties in accordance with the laws. before implementing any rule and regulations the politicians have to take permission from the court by following the whole process. lastly, financial institutions such as: world bank which provides grants, loans, equity investment and guarantees to the countries. this bank has records of all the nations money. altogether each of them enjoys additional powers over the government."
Ans.) I partially agree as well as partially disagree with the above statement.
In a democratic society, each and every individual has equal citizenship rights irrespective of his/her caste, gender, race or financial status. We cannot say that the richest of the society has some special powers in terms of citizenship or the government always works in collaboration with the richest people of the country. We can say that at times like corona pandemic, these rich people come forward voluntarily to help the government by the excess financial resources that they have but that doesn't makes them superior in terms of democratic powers in the society. Rather it just makes them popular as they win the sentiments of the people.
In context of the police officers, the above statement is correct that they have the right to investigate or arrest and they are responsible for safeguarding the security of every individual in the society but they cannot punish any individual until and unless the individual is proven guilty by the court of law.
I strongly agree with the above statement in context of the court of law. Under a democratic set-up, the judicial system is responsible for interpreting and implementing rules and regulations in the name of state and also acts as a mechanism to solve disputes between parties and individual.
Lastly, regarding the financial institutions like World Bank, it is correct that they assess a nation's financial status and provides grants and loans for undertaking various developmental projects and schemes in countries but it does not have any extra right over the government of that country, rather it acts as a financial advisor to the government or it can convincingly have some influence in some of the financial policies of the central bank or government of that country.
