Answer: People suffering from pain and disease at the old age mainly want to get rid of the suffering. Hence the quality of life matters. People or the patients suffering from severe and incurable disease want to end their life.
So, the main thing that matter is the quality of the life that is being spent. It means that a person who has spent a healthy life and having a disease free conditions at the old age. In this case person should live more.
Whereas, in the case where a person is depressed, suffering from incurable diseases at the old age. The pain is intense then he/ she should opt for euthanasia or physician assisted suicide. This will provide relief from the unbearable pain. It will set soul free. This is the reason most of the patient suffering from the disease that has no cure or treat opt for the euthanasia. Because they know that pain is unbearable and they could not handle it anymore.
It is important to interact with the family members and ask support for the decision. Verbal communication is one of the best method through which the person can interact with family members. The patient has autonomy and can ask for physician assisted suicide.
Hence everyone should respect the decision of the patient. Family could assist in the decision and enable to understand the situation and conditions. If the person has lived his life, then one can easily opt for the assisted suicide.
