Identify and describe how you use technology and its effects on your daily/weekly/monthly routines. Think about how technology has changed the way we live. Please respond to the question in paragraph form, grammatically correct, in complete sentences. Use 200-250 words as a guide.
Technology has infiltrated into our lives to the extent that it has now become a necessity for many, just like food and water. We wake up in the morning to the sound of our alarm clocks, which ring on our phone kept beside our close reach. Some individuals also sleep next to their phones throughout the night. Upon waking up, we immediately begin to check our social media profiles and emails. We get ready for the day, to proceed to our workplace. We spend considerable time in travelling via buses, trains, and cars which we once again, spend time checking our phones. Once we reach our workplace, we spend the rest of the day carrying out most of our work on the computer screen placed in front of us. We travel back home only to switch on the television until we fall asleep.
Perhaps I am overstating the problem here and speaking in highly general terms. However, the introduction of technology into our everyday lives is leading to slavish-addict like behaviour. The goal of technology was to make human lives easier, and no doubt, that has been the case. But one of the chief concerns, in my opinion, is how it is leading people to distance themselves from their immediate environment and those around them, plunging head deep into a virtual world. Cutting oneself off from the outside world, while being physically present in it at the same time is one of the chief dangers of technology and it appears to me that unfortunately that is how we are using it at this point of time.
