A study examined whether the content of TV shows influenced the ability of viewers to recall brand names in commercials. The researchers randomly assigned volunteers to watch one of three programs, each containing the same eight commercials. The shows were either violent, sexual, or neutral. Afterwards, the subjects were asked to recall the brands of the advertised products. Results are in the accompanying table. Use the table to complete parts a) and b) below. a) Is there a significant difference in viewers abilities to remember brands advertised in shows with neutral vs. violent co Violent Sexual Neutral No. of subjects 107 100 106 Mean 3.49 2.48 4.03 SD 1.54 1.82 1.43 Determine the t-statistic. 1) Find the degrees of freedom. 2) Find the p-value 3) Do you reject or fail to reject the null hypotheses? 4) Find a 90% confidence interval for the difference, in mean number of brand names remembered between the groups watching shows with violent content and those watching sexual shows. Interpret your interval in this context. 5) Find the over served difference of means.
