Compare and contrast in detail the changes that take place during metamorphosis between two taxa of animals?
Ans. Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after bith or hatching ,involving a abrupt change in body structure through cell growth and differentiation, some insects ,fish ,amphibians ,mollusks, echinodem and tunicates shows metamorphosis ,by change in nutrition source or behaviour . It may be :
Complete metamorphosis ( holometaboly)
Incomplete metamorphosis ( hemimetaboly)
No metamorphosis ( ametaboly )
Change during metamorphosis between taxa of animals like ;
A) in cephalochordata , metamorphosis is idothyronine - induced and it could be an ancestral feature of all chordates .
B) in fishes ( osteicthyes ) or jawless fish( agnatha) metamorphosis typically under control by thyroid hormone .
C) Amphibians : frog , metamorphosis is regulated by thyroxin concentration in blood ,which stimulte metamorphosis ,and prolactin ,which stimulte metamorphosis and prolactin which counteracts it's effect .
