1. Duties to be delegated to a CNA:
CNA is a certified nursing assistant who assist the nursing staff in care activities. RN can delegate responsibilities of assisting in the activities of daily living and personal hygiene of a patient such as grooming, bathing, feeding, and elimination to a CNA. These staff also could help the patient in positioning in a bed and transport between departments. They can also perform bed making and change the bed linens. They can monitor vital signs and intake - output of the patient. They can monitor the safety precautions available for the patient.
2. Duties to be delegated to LPN:
LPN is a licensed practice nurse who assists RN and works under the supervision of RN. LPN could be delegated with the duties of administration of enemas and medications other than intravenous medications, changing of wound dressing, insertion of urinary catheters, nasogastric tube, collection of samples for investigations and assists RN in the evaluation of certified nursing assistant.
