Kidney is one of the vital organs of our body. The main function of kidney is used to filter toxins and waste materials from our blood . When the kidneys are damaged the waste materials stay in our body and cause various health disease.There are two types of dialysis hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Role of a dialysis nurse before, during and after dialysis

1. Checking the patient's vital signs before during and after dialysis.

2. To provide care before and after the dialysis. Always clean the catheters both the permanent and the temporary and address the patient concerns during the dialysis.

3. Nurse should have knowledge to operate the dialysis machine ,how to read a dialysis equipment and perform dialysis to the patient.

4. Nurse should make aware of the patient's family about the signs and symptoms they should watch out.

5. Educate the patient about how to manage the disease and the type of food they can eat. Instruct them about medications they have to take and the level of activity they have to undergo.

6.Monitor the patient reaction to treatment interventions.

7. Administer medications as prescribed by the nephrologist.

8. Always ensure patient comfort while executing dialysis .

2.How to educate patient with UTI:

1. Keep your genital area clean and wear dry cotton underwear.

2. Wipe from front to back after urinating.

3 Women should not douche or use feminine hygiene products.

4. Drink plenty of fluids and drinking Canberry juice can be helpful.

5. Urinate after the sexual intercourse.

How to educate patient with renal transplant?

1.Educate the patient about the type of the food they have to eat.They should eat foods low in salt and fat.

2. Ask your patient to take immunosuppressants and other medicines as directed by the doctor.

3.Educate the patient about the signs of infection and possible kidney rejection . Always ask them to contact the hospital if anything ever happens.

4. Ask the patient to avoid mingling with the people who are sick.
