What are some common nonrestraint alternatives to promote patient safety? Why might they be appropriate to use? Why are restraints considered a final resort?
Alternative restraints such as:
a Pressure -senstive padsorchair pads with alarms
b.Encourage family and friends to stay with the client,and use sitters for clients who needs supervision.
c.Maintain toileting routines.
d.Use relaxation techniques with the client.
e.Place familar items ,such as family pictures,near the client bedside.
f. Assign confused and disoriented clients torooms near to nurses station.
By the use of alternative restraints prevents the clients from falling and injuries associated with falling.Secondly , clients get an close observation from family and friends as a result they can get rid of from loneliness,anger and so on.
Restraints are protective devices use to limit the physical activity of a client or to immobilise a client or an extremity.Restraints is considered as fianl resort because when the alternative restraints are failed to apply in clients then we go to restraints .For instance,When the patient is agressive or viloent behaviour restraints are used to control the harmful behaviour.
