Explain the ideas of W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington correlate to the concepts of overt and covert resistance.
Overt behaviors relate to bodily or facial gestures observed, seen, or heard, while covert behaviors are mental processes in human brains that involve processing information and thinking. These processes cannot be observed since they cannot be heard or observed. Booker T. Washington and Du Bois carried out their responsibilities in a manner that exhibited overt and covert resistance. Principally, they engaged their thoughts in making decisions that led to blacks' gradual gaining of civil rights (Bieze & Michael., 2008). Du Bois emphasized overt concepts whereby his work would be seen and read to acquire similar thoughts to his approaches.
Du Bois wrote studies, poetry, and essays, he addressed race where people listened to his speeches, and he also wrote novels. Du Bois's writings opposed white supremacy; he engaged other professionals in championing his motives; these included the lectures and other black leaders. Booker.T. mostly adopted overt and covert approaches in leading protests and agitating for equal rights regardless of racial alignments (Knox & Grant., 2020). Booker T and Du Bois incorporated hidden behaviors by reasoning, perceiving, creating, and remembering injustices that happened in the past to demand equality.
