Expert Solution

The rational model helps us to identify the problem and to make a sound decision. It is an orderly way of the finding of alternatives and the solution. The path-way includes formulating the goal, identify the criteria, identify the list of alternatives, analyzing the alternatives, and the final decision. It was assumed that it maximizes the benefit and minimizes the cost. For this rational decision making the individual has to get more information and to have the cognitive ability, resources, and time for the analyzing of each alternative before taking the final decision. The major disadvantages are taking more time and more resources. Sometimes the competitive alternatives make the decision more complex.

In the healthcare industry, evidence-based practice plays an important role in decision-making process. The organizations and the managers have to involve in the scientific decision making. The ethics are not taken into consideration in evidence-based approaches. The managers have to play a key role in the decision making.
