What is the difference between a rational-comprehensive approach to decision making and an incremental model? Explain where the polis model, posited by Deborah Stone, fits into these two models.
Rational comprehensive theory -rational comprhensive theory obtain the views of economist as well as other people like psychological and economist .ratio so comprehensive theory includes the six elements:
1.The decision maker is confronted with the problem that can be separated with the other problem .
2.Goal and values guide the decision maker are known and can be clarified and ranked accordingly.
3.Each and every alternative are examined.
4.cost and benefit would follow from selecting each alternative.
5.Each alternative is then compared with the other alternative.
6.Decision maker will choose alternative and consequences that maximises its attainment.
INCREMENTAL THEORY:
*Incremental theory involves limited changes .selection of goals or objectives and its analysis is required .
*Decision maker is going to concern only few alternative .
*Incrementalism allows for end means or means end adjustment it makes problem more adjustable and manageable .
*No single decision or perfect solution of the problem.
Incrementalism theory is more realistic and its lack of resources ,time and Intelligence.
