26. if payments and adjustments listed on a remittance advice were not posted and applied to patients’ accounts, what would the consequence be?
27. if statements were not created and mailed to patients , what would the consequence be ?
26..If payments and adjustments were only just posted and not applied to the patient's accounts, not only would be patients end up with a statement showing that they owe the practice more money than they should, but also, you would have a deposit total that does not match your daily receipts.if neither the payments nor adjustments were not posted as a deposit or applied to anyone account Everyone would end up receiving a statement showing that they owe the practice money when they should not be receiving a statement for that amount.
27...statements are unfortunately necessary to remind patients of the balance due on their account, whether they have insurance or not. if a statement were not sent out, they would not know how much the insurance had paid and what the remaining leftover balance to be paid was. this is necessary for the collection effort as a reminder to patients to pay the balance due to the office.
