Subcutaneous injection is injected injected under the skin in the subcutaneous tissue. The small amount of volume up to 2ml can be administered with the rotation of the site. And volume of injection less 1ml and upto maximum 2 ml can be administered
Common drugs given via S/C is insulin, epinephrine, vitamin b12 shots etc.
Ideal syringe for s/c injection. Is a short needle and syrings as it can easily access nthe tissue without nor less pain. Syringe 1ml for upto 1ml volume dose and 2ml for upto 2ml volume of injection.
For haloperidol the subcutaneous bolus administration doesn't not need to be diluted. It is usually present in 5mg/ml ampoule so according to order dose which is 1mg require 0.2 ml of haloperidol. (Using dose calculation method- dose in hand, available etc).
So 1ml syringe is ideal for administration of 1mg heloperidol because it has calibration or marking on the syringe for easy loading of dose in syringe without any error as compared to 3ml syringe.
FOR ANY DOUBT POST A QUESTIONS IT WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED ?
