Medication order are the writer or verbal directions is prescribed by the physician for medication to be administered to a patient or client.
The prescribed order can be given to license nurse or pharmacist to administer or dispeced the medication.
Prescribed practitioner are doctor, nurse practitioner, dentist, physician, optometrist etc.
Ordered dose- dose prescribed by the physician
Recommended dose- it is measured amount to drug to be taken according to age, weight or disease conditions.
Recommended dose and ordered dose may differ from each other because of the some factors such as side effects, weight, age etc.
Whenever there is a difference in the dose in recommend and order
- check the previous documents
- assess other factors that may create difference in dose like age, sex, weight or side effects
- collaboration with the prescriber about the order and halt the medication untill it clarifies.
- our main motive of practice is beneficiance of the patient and no harm .
