To explain what the interdisciplinary team means to my fellow worker I will tell him that an interdisciplinary team comprises of a group of healthcare providers from different fields working together to attain the same goal of providing the best care or best outcome for one particular patient or a group of patients. For example, the following specialties may make up an interdisciplinary team;

pharmacist
nurse
case manager
social worker
respiratory technician
doctor (from different fields, for example, cardiologist, internist, family medicine, anesthesiologist, etc.)
